Happy Halloween!/Cosplay help

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a safe and happy Halloween! May your evening be filled with delightful spooks and eerie beasties of the night X33 

Unfortunately I wasn't really able to cough up a costume, outside of my "SCP Containment Breach" Class D uniform, so I'm going as a college student for the evening... aka a brain-rotted zombie.  

I did, however, manage to get some good short-notice make-up for future cosplays and the like OwO

Which had me puzzled... thus far I'm fairly good with basic make up effects in a pinch, but I've never experimented with wigs. 

I COULD use hair coloring, but for characters like these

So my question is, if I get a wig the right color, how do I style them? I assume curling irons are a bad idea Do I use traditional rollers and such?
